Abstract

575,212. Tools; tool holders. TURNER, F. March 7, 1944, No. 4168. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe &c. tool-holder for a gapped circular tool D comprises a head B having a bore b<3> receiving a clamping bolt E for the tool and provided with a cylindrical stem b entering an axial bore in the rectangular sectioned shank A. The forward end a of the shank has a circular section to allow the head B to be adjusted rotatably about the axis of the shank, clamping being effected by a set-screw C extending to the rear of the shank and passing through a bore a<3> of reduced diameter. Rotation of the bolt E is prevented by a grubscrew in the head B engaging an axial keyway in the bolt. The tool D is recessed at both sides to receive the head e of the bolt and a cutting edge may be provided at each end of the gap in the tool.
