Abstract

555,279. Mounting milling-cutter arbors &c. ATTWOOD, A. A., and JESSOP, J. May 28, 1942, No. 7230. [Class 83 (iii)] In mounting a milling or like tool or arbor by means of a holder 3 secured in a taper bore in a driving spindle, (not shown), the arbor or shank 1, tapered at 13 is screwed at 2 into a plug 6 screwed at 8 into the rear of the holder so that by removing the plug the shank 1 may readily be driven out. The plug has a reduced part 12 fitting into a plain bore of the holder and has a head 5 tapped to receive the end of a draw spindle which secures the member 3. The thread 8 may have the same pitch as the thread 2 or it may have a smaller pitch so that the action of unscrewing the plug serves to move the shank 1 axially and thus loosen it.
