Abstract

570,099. Drills and cutters. TAYLOR, A. E. Dec. 18, 1943, Nos. 21257/43 and 6085/44. [Class 83 (iii)] A countersinking or counterboring attachment to a twist drill comprises a cutter c, Fig. 1, integral with a stop flange b and a split clamping sleeve d taper threaded for a nut e. The flange b is gapped at b<2> to facilitate the sharpening of the cutting-teeth. In a modification, the depth stop is formed on a second split sleeve adjustably clamped on the sleeve d. In a further form the body of the cutter c is located on the drill by a screw j engaging one groove and clamped by a screw k engaging another groove. The stop collar b is screwed onto the cutter body and locked, after adjustment, at g. The work-contacting face of the collar may be be on a rotatable washer.
