Abstract

794,212. Tool-holders. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. Sept. 9, 1955 [Sept. 9, 1954], No. 25873/55. Class 83 (3). A tool-holder 11, in which the cutter 12 is received in a recess 13, comprises a plate 14 which embraces the cutter and secures it within the recess, the depth of the plate being greatest at a point away from the holder. The cutter is received within a hole 18 in the plate, which is drawn, as by a screw 16, into a slot 15 in the holder, the conical shank of the screw engaging a recess 17 in the plate, and the cutter bearing against an adjustable height-stop, e.g. a screw 19. The narrow margin of material between the end of the plate 14 and the hole 18 thins towards the cutting-end of the cutter to avoid fouling the work being machined. The recess 13, which may be parallel to the front-face of shank 11, may also extend the full depth of the shank. In this event, a nut for the screw 19 is secured in the recess, as by brazing.
