Abstract

818,262. Tool-holders. WESSON TOOL CO. Dec. 21, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1955], No. 36637/55. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A cutting-tool comprises a shank 20, Figs. 3 and 4, and means 30, 50, 60 for locating a cutting-tip 34 in two directions. The carbide tip 34 has three cutting edges A, B, C, on each face. It is clamped in a recess 40 in the part 30 by the co-operating part 60 having chipbreaking surfaces 70. The part 30 is secured in a slot in the shank by the bolt 50, through which passes a bolt 66 which secures the part 60. In a modification, a U-shaped spring-member 90, Fig. 6, having chip-breaking surfaces 112, 114, clamps a cylindrical tip 110. In other modifications a cylindrical bit 128, Fig. 7, is clamped against an adjusting-screw 124, and the member 90 in Fig. 10 is restrained from angular movement by a set-screw 152.
