Abstract
557,884. Turret tool-holders for lathes &c. CREED, A. B. June 15, 1942, No. 8155. [Class 83 (iii)] A turret tool-holder for a lathe, drilling machine &c. has a shank 1 mountable in a tailstock and an offset head 2 forming a base for a turret 3 movable around a pin 6 inclined at about 105 degrees to the shank. The tool sockets 9 are also inclined to the plane of the base and located so that as the turret is rotated the tools clear the shank and come successively into alignment with the shank. The tools are secured by locking screws 10. The turret is located in its indexed positions by a pair of plungers 12 which are urged by a flat leaf-spring 13 into engagement with V-section radial grooves 14 in the turret. The holes 9 may be prolonged by smaller holes 15 through which a pm may be inserted to eject a tool from its socket. The milled nut 8 may be replaced by a handle or lever.
