562,266. Air conditioning apparatus. WOODS OF COLCHESTER, Ltd., (formerly WOODS, Ltd., M. W.), and HOLBECHE, R. H. July 16, 1942, No. 9901. [Class 137] An air trunk 1 is provided with a damper 6 which controls the proportion of fresh air from an inlet 2 and of re-circulated air from inlet 3, a fan 5 delivering the air from these sources after its passage through a heater 4 to an enclosure, and a thermostat 8 controlling a motor 7 which operates the damper through reduction gearing of high ratio. According as a switch 9, operated by the thermostat 8, is on one or other of its contacts 12, 13 a two-way contactor 11 completes the motor circuit through one or other of the field windings. In one of the motor leads is a bi-metallic strip 15, which, when heated by a coil 14, breaks a contact 16 preventing a too rapid change of air temperature and obviating hunting. In a modification, the damper may be controlled by the temperature of the incoming air.
