Abstract

[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group V] In a small power, high voltage transformer, the windings are applied to a bobbin 2 of uneured natural or synthetic rubber and are then covered by a wrapping 5 of the same material which forms with the bobbin 2 a complete envelope to. which rubber insulated terminal fittings 8, 11 and a sealable filling neck 9 are applied before the rubber is cured in a moulding press. During the latter operation, the envelope is filled with air under pressure. ,The envelope is subsequently evacuated and then oil filled. Shell-type core laminations are assembled round the winding structure, the centre leg passing through the opening in the bobbin.
