Abstract
560,174. Stoves. ASHWELL & NESBIT Ltd., and ASHWELL, F. A. E. July 13, 1942, No. 9712. [Class 126] [Also in Groups XII and XXX] In a range, stove, boiler or the like of the kind provided with a retort 1 fed with solid fuel from below by a screw conveyer 2 having two sets of blades 5, 6 of opposite hand spaced apart below the retort, the sets of blades being of equal pitch but of different diameter and the retort being provided with hollow perforated walls 7 through which air is supplied by a fan 9 driven by the motor which drives the conveyer under the control of a thermostat, the conveyer conduit 3 which receives fuel from a hopper 4 is also supplied with air from the ducts 10, 13 to prevent fumes passing from the retort to the hopper. A branch pipe 13<1> leads air from the duct to the space above the fire for secondary combustion.
