Abstract
571,704. Open fireplaces. BEATTIE, W. Sept. 6, 1943, No. 14600. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 9, 1944] [Class 126] In an open fireplace supplied with air for combustion from under the floor or from the external atmosphere the supply conduit A, fitted with a valve B, delivers into a chamber D below the hearth, part of the air passing to the fire through apertures in a fuel pan H supporting the firebars J and part entering the room through a slotted plate E in the hearth. The two supplies of air are controlled by hit- and-miss slides I, F respectively, while the fuel-retaining curb G is shaped as shown to direct the air entering the room away from the fire.
