Abstract

559,998. Composite metal panels. DEHN, F. B. (Vultee Aircraft, Inc.). Sept. 7, 1942, No. 12598. [Class 20 (ii)] A composite metal plate particularly for use in aircraft construction as a bulkhead comprises a thin plain metal sheet 11 bonded to an expanded metal sheet 13 having arched deformed portions spaced from the sheet by strands 15 which form the spaces in the sheet, the outstanding ridges being surmounted by channel-section cap-plates 17 welded thereto. The edge of the plate is stiffened by an angle section rim 10 welded to 'the flat plate and the ridges may be disposed either transversely or longitudinally.
