Abstract

559,897. Doors for vehicles. DEHN, F. B. (Vultee Aircraft, Inc.). Sept. 7, 1942, No. 12596. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group X] The panel of a metal door, especially for a vehicle, consists of a thin metal sheet 10 reinforced by expanded metal 11 bonded to the inner face of the sheet by spot-welding at the bonds 12 between the diagonal strands 13. The panel is strengthened against warping by a flanged strip 37 which is welded to bonds 12a spaced from the sheet by bending adjacent strands 36, as shown in Fig. 2, and is also welded at its ends 39 to the border strips 15.
