Abstract

1,021,629. Inspection windows for ovens. MILLS PRODUCTS Inc. Feb. 17, 1964 [Sept. 24, 1963], No. 6477/64. Heading A4D. In a double glazed window for an oven door, the panes 28 and 30 are located in a rigid peripheral frame 42 by a metal spacer member 32 to which at least the inner pane 28 is sealed by an adhesive tape 50. In one form, (Figs 1-3, not shown) a single tape spans the gap between the panes. Breather holes 44 may be provided or, alternatively, air may circulate around the edge of the outer pane 30 (Figs 5 and 6, not shown). The ends of the members of frame 42 are joined by a tongue and slot connection. Beads 24, 26 locate the frame against flanges surrounding the window opening in an oven door. The tape is of aluminium foil coated with a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive capable of withstanding temperatures of 550‹F.
