Abstract

1,035,973. Suspended ceilings. OWENSCORNING FIBERGLAS CORPORATION. Feb. 11, 1964 [Feb. 14, 1963], No. 5713/64. Heading E1L Acoustic panels 32 (Fig. 3) or 72 (Fig. 5) are supported along their edges by main, 22 or 62, and cross, 48 or 76, beams, or by edge beams 43 (Fig. 3) which are formed by folding a blank into a hollow beam with a supporting flange along the top. The blank may be a laminate of kraft paper 14, corrugated kraft paper 16, and kraft paper 18, the last sheet having perhaps a wood grain design, and being covered with a layer 20 of polyethylene. The cross beam 48 (Fig. 3) has ends shaped to the profile of the main beam 22, and the cross beam 76 (Fig. 5) is carried on shoes 82 fixed to the main beams 62. The shoes 82 are also formed from blanks of similar construction to those for the beams. The beams may have inserts, e.g. 74 (Fig. 5) to retain their shape. Other beam shapes are shown in Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), with trapezoidal and semi-circular lower cross-sections respectively.
