Abstract

1416404 Plant containers DOLCO PACKAGING CORP 29 June 1973 [20 July 1972 21 March 1973] 31119/73 Heading A1E [Also in Division B8] A plant container particularly for transporting seedlings is formed from a blank 12 of expanded polystyrene having side sections 22, 24 separated from a centre panel 14 by hinge lines, the blank being provided with hollow ribs 64 and protuberences 34 which abut each other when the carton is erected to a substantially U- shaped configuration and so form partitions. Each side of the protuberence 34 is recessed at 28, 32 to receive the tapered end of a rib 64. The carton is provided with tabs 54, each of which extends from the free edge of the side section 22 and is adapted to engage a recess provided in the other side section 24. Spacer buttons are provided on the lower surface of the centre panel 14 in order to raise the carton above the supporting surface. Similar spacer buttons 96 may be formed on the outer surfaces of the side sections. Ventilation or drainage holes 36 may be provided in the centre panel 14. The blanks may be nested in the unerected condition.
