Abstract

557,113. Winding cops. LINEN INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, BODEL, C. C., and WARING, L. A. R. June 10, 1942, No. 7909 [Class 120 (ii)] In a machine for winding weft yarn into cops upon a spindle F, the cap N for the top of the spindle fits on to the smooth cylindrical end f thereof and is secured thereon by one or more spring-loaded levers Q which engage directly, or through the intermediary of dogs o with a hole or recess P in the spindle : when the levers directly engage the hole P they have turned lower ends so as to hook therein. The levers are pivoted in slots n<SP>1</SP> in the cap and are loaded by a spring s located in a hole n<SP>2</SP> in the cap; projections T on the levers limit movement thereof, When doffing, the cap N is removed from the spindle by pressing inwards the lever Q to disengage the dogs from the hole P and the spindle is then moved downwards by pressure on a pedal W at the front of a lever U fulcrummed on a shaft V and carrying a counterweight X ; the lever U also carrying an opensided collar which bears on a boss Z at the bottom of the spindle.
