Abstract

870,402. Doffing textile packages. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A. G. Jan. 19, 1959 [March 12, 1958], No. 1937/59. Class 120(2) For doffing in machines for spinning artificial yarns where wound packages are arranged in tubes on overstrung spindles disposed horizontally at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the machine, there is mounted beside each spindle a separate and independently operabled offing means with its axis parallel to the spindle and having a hook-like extension to pull or push the wound tube. As shown, a spindle 2 with two packages on a tube is carried on a wall 1 also carrying a support 17 for a doffer comprising a member 9 which can be pulled out against the force of a spring 18 to engage and displace the packages. The member 9 is secured to the inner of two telescopic rods in a support 16 which become entrained to move together after the inner tube has been pulled out for a certain distance until stops 15, 16. engage. In other forms, the opening may be replaced by a weight, the tube may be displaceable in a slot in wall 1 and be replaced by two or more, the doffer can be adjustably positioned in a slot in the wall, and the doffing-element 7 can be carried by a rod displaceable in a sleeve when a weight is released to fall by depressing a foot lever, or when pressure fluid is admitted to the sleeve by actuating a hand or foot lever.
