Abstract

632,312. Thread-tension arrangements. BRUGGER, A. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2647. Convention date, March 6, 1946. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] A tension arrangement for braking a running thread in winding &c. machines, comprises a brake 12, 13 and a spiral-shaped disc 10, with a circumferential scale, pivoted at 9, means 11 for adjusting and clamping the disc 10 in its setting, a feeler member 16 loosely mounted on the brake support and adapted to engage the rim of the disc and a spring 15 mounted between the member 16 and the thread brake 13, so that the braking action will correspond to the numerical setting of the disc 10. The arrangement may also include a finger-type brake 3, 4, the fingers 4 being attached to a pivoted stirrup 5 spring-urged at 7. The stirrup 5 may also be provided with a graduated spiral disc, as at 10, against which a pin on the stirrup bears, so that the setting of the fingers may be adjusted to give the desired braking action.
