Class 106 (2) An unwinding tension measuring device for a yarn package comprises a body a of substantial mass for holding the package, means i for drawing off the yarn at a predetermined speed, resilient mounting means b for the body a providing a long natural period of vibration and adapted to counterbalance the yarn tension, and means g, h for indicating the displacement of the body a by the tension in the yarn. A ratchet d and pawl f may be used to' hold the body a in its position of maximum displacement. According to a modification the body a supports a pulley wheel instead of the yarn package, the yarn package being held elsewhere in such a manner that a bite of the yarn from the yarn package may be passed over the pulley to the means i.
