556,042. Alloys. BOLTON, C. A. K., and SANDERSON BROS. & NEWBOULD. Ltd. Jan. 15, 1942, No. 637. Divided out of 556,040. [Class 82 (i)] High-speed tool steels contain 6-7.75 per cent. of tungsten, 0.75-0.9 per cent. of carbon, 3.5-4.5 per cent of chromium, 3.5-7 per cent. of molybdenum, and 0.7-1.4 per cent. of tantalum or niobium or both, with or without up to 1.2 per cent. of vanadium and up to 10 per cent. of cobalt. The steels may be made in the manner described in Specification 556,040.
