Abstract

1389764 Magnetic alloys SONY CORP 25 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972] 3885/73 Heading C7A A magnetic material which is particularly suited for use as a shield casing for a magnetic recording head is composed of the quaternary alloy (FeNi) CrMo wherein the ratio of Ni to Fe is between 0.54:1 and 1.5:1, the chromium content is 6 to 12 wt per cent of the overall alloy and the molybdenum content is 0.5 to 8%. Up to 1% of niobium, titanium and/or vanadium may also be present. The alloys, while maintaining the magnetic characteristics of Fe-Ni alloys, have improved wear resistance and anti-rust properties.
