Abstract

554,239. Fluxes. ARC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., HAIM, G., and ROGERS, E. J. Dec. 24, 1941, No. 16628. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A welding electrode or rod of non-ferrous metal such as aluminium or light alloy is coated with flux by dipping the rod in molten flux. Porosity of the weld is thus reduced by the absence of moisture in the coating. The flux bath may be maintained at not less than 450‹C. The flux mixture may consist of 30 per cent. each of sodium and potassium chlorides, 15 per cent. of lithium fluoride and 25 per cent. of cryolite.
