Description
The use of coated electrodes containing sodium chloride, sodium silicofluoride and cryolite is known for surfacing aluminum bronze. However, the known electrodes with a similar coating do not provide a good quality of the deposited metal and stable burning of the welding arc. To eliminate these drawbacks, it is proposed to introduce potassium chloride into the electrode coating, and to take the coating components in the following ratio; sodium silicofluoride - 8-15%, sodium chloride -15-20%, cryolite - 15-20% and potassium chloride - the rest.
An aqueous 25% potassium fluoride solution is used as a binder. To increase the deposition rate and improve arc stability, aluminum bronze powder can be introduced into the coating in a ratio of 1: 1 to the weight of the other components.
The fabrication of the electrode coating is carried out as follows. All the dry ingredients are cast according to the recipe, mixed and subjected to joint grinding (including a bronze powder, if it is introduced into the coating) in a ball mill for 14-16 hours. Then, the perch electrodes are coated onto them with a coating of 0.3-0.5 mm thick if the coating does not contain bronze powder, and 0.8-1.0 mm with the introduction of a powder layer. After that, the electrodes are dried in air for 12-14 hours, and then in a drying oven at a temperature of 120-140 for 4 hours. The temperature in the oven should be raised slowly (over 2 hours). The cladding of aluminum bronze with an electrode with such a coating is carried out at a constant current with reverse polarity.
