Abstract

1304876 Flux composition for coating with Zn SENJU METAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 21 Oct 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 49885/70 Headings C7F C7M A Zn coating composition comprises 30-80% weight of a flux containing 30-55% formamide and/or acetamide, 35-60% ZnCl 2 , 6-12% NH 4 Cl, 1-5% SnCl 2 , 1-7% PbCl 2 and 20-70% weight of Zn powder or Zn alloy containing up to 1% Al. The coating composition is applied as a paste to a substrate such as steel by brushing and is then dried and fused with a torch flame e.g. oxy-acetylene to form a Zn coating about 20 microns thick, 10 microns of the layer being a Zn-Fe alloy. Prior to applying the coating composition the substrate may be brush coated with the following flux composition which is fused with an oxyacetylene flame. The flux composition is 50-75% Zn- Cl 2 , up to 10% NH 4 Cl, 1-10% SnCl 2 , 1-3% HCl (1À8 S. G.) balance water.
