Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a metallic coat having a superior corrosion preventing effect on the surface of steel or the like without applying a conventional plating method by projecting powder of a metal or an alloy having <=400 deg.C m.p. on the surface. CONSTITUTION:Grit of a metal such as Cd, Pb, Sn, Tl or In or an alloy such as Cd-Pb, Cd-In, Bi-In, In-Pb, Cd-Zn, Pb-Sn, In-Zn, Au-In, Ag-In or Ag-Sn having <= 400 deg.C m.p. and 100-200mum diameter is projected and hit on the previously cleaned surface of a metallic substrate of metallic material such as steel, brass, copper or stainless steel or a porous substrate at >=20 m/sec speed. Thus, a coat of said metal or alloy with superior corrosion resistance can be formed on the substrate surface without applying a plating method. By superposing a patterned mask on the substrate surface, the coat can be formed partially.
