Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase resistance against erosion owing to sludge, etc., and to reduce repair and conditioning by coating a heat resistant melt-sprayed layer having a specific m. p. on the surface of a roll. CONSTITUTION:A roll base material 1 has a build up-welded layer 2 of heat resisting steel and a heat resistant melt-sprayed layer 5 consisting of 1 or 2 kinds of metals, metal carbides, metal oxides having >=1,500 deg.C m.p. is coated thereon by means of an intermediate binding layer 3 of metals. A thermet coating layer 4 is applied between the layer 5 and the layer 3. The layer 3 is metal such as Ni-Cr-Al alloy or Ni-Mo-Al alloy.
