Abstract
553,606. Springs. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and REDSHAW, S. C. Nov. 19, 1941 No. 14869. [Class 108 (iii)] In ring springs of the type in which a number of inner and outer rings with cylinderical and conical or double conical faces wedge into one another, the component rings are made of resilient material 8 such as rubber with rigid rings 9 on their cylindrical faces, inner or outer, and with rigid segments 10 on their outer or inner conical surfaces to form conical faces for corresponding engagement. The Figure shows only the inner rings so formed but both inner and outer rings may be resilient. The bearing members 10 are formed as a steel sleeve with a cylindrical surface and a double conical surface and are divided into a plurality of segments by saw cuts 11 of suitable width. The springs are located, as shown, between two telescopic tubes, each of which has a shoulder such as 5 and a flat ring 6 bearing against an end of the spring.
