Abstract

534,580. Piston rings. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and MANSELL, H. C. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25474. [Class 122 (i)] Oil-scraping piston rings are disposed in pairs 11, 12, the lower ring being formed with grooves 13 which are disposed at an angle to the gap in the upper ring so that in any relative position of the two, the ends of the upper ring adjacent the gap are almost or entirely supported. The grooves may be made by milling in parallel pairs.
