Abstract

853,684. Height gauges. AMAR TOOL & GAUGE CO. Ltd. Oct. 2, 1958, No. 31447/58. Class 106 (2). The movable column of a micrometer height gauge is made up of a number of individual annular elements 1, 2 of equal height, each limited axially by two plane parallel surfaces and each provided with one or more radially projecting portions 8, these portions extending to each of the parallel end surfaces, and adjacent projecting portions being displaced angularly about the column. The elements 1, 2 are as shown in Fig. 2, alternative elements being inverted and a flat face 9 on each element being marked with indicating numerals as shown at 20 in Fig. 1. The elements are clamped between rings 11, 12 and the rod 3 carrying them in held against the pin 17 of a micrometer 19. By this means, the gauge may be used for setting measuring or marking-out tools, whether they face upwardly or downwardly. Instead of a single projecting portion 8, two may be provided each extending over part of the axial length of the element and they may be angularly staggered if desired.
