Abstract
553,216. Gas-producers. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd., and WILLIAMS, N. H. Feb. 27, 1942, No. 2604. [Class 55 (i)] The water supply to a jacket on the lower part of a gas producer is controlled by a thermostat actuated according to the temperature of the hot water leaving the jacket to control the flow of the cooler water to the jacket, whereby the water supply to the jacket is dependent upon the temperature in the jacket. The water jacket b forms part of the wall of a self-clinkering producer with a rotating grate d, and the valve g through which the water passes is controlled by a thermostat which may be in either the water inlet pipe e or outlet pipe f. The jacket may be divided into sections b<1> one of three being shown in Fig. 2, the thermostat h being shown in the outlet pipe f. An orifice meter i controls a differential gauge j which gives an indication of the condition of the fire by the rate of water inflow. The water side of the metal wall may be coated with a material of low conductivity.
