Abstract

795,381. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Dec. 23, 1954 [Jan. 13, 1954], No. 37141/54. Class 135. The operation of a superheater in a steam generator is regulated by a device under the control of the steam temperature and the rate of flow at the inlet of the superheater. As shown, the regulation is effected by injecting water past a valve 17 into the inlet steam line 1, and the valve is actuated by a motor 16 under the control of a proportional controller 11 to which are applied signals from an inlet temperaturesensitive element 6 and a steam flow meter 23. The controller 11 may be omitted and the signals from the elements 6, 23 applied directly to the motor 16. The transmission of the signals &c. can be effected hydraulically, pneumatically or electrically. In place of the water injection shown other regulating methods may be employed, such as cooling of the steam entering the superheater by other means, tapping off a portion of the steam in front of the super heater, or regulation of a damper in the flue or a swivelling burner in the furnace of the superheater.
