[Also in Group XXIX] A valve 11 in the gas passage 21, 22 of a water heater is actuated by the pointed end of a rod 7 connected to a temperature-responsive tube 4 enclosed in a pipe 1 having an outlet 3 at an intermediate point to form a water storage chamber A which prevents the tube 4 from responding to rapid temperature changes in fluid flowing between an inlet 2 and the outlet 3. The rod 7 is connected to the valve by a lever 9 and to the tube 4, which is of copper, by a screwed connection adjusted by an arm 19 fitted with a pointer to indicate the temperature setting.
