Abstract
1,016,179. Valves. MECHANICAL PRODUCTS Inc. June 25, 1963 [July 3, 1962], No. 25163/63. Heading F2V. A thermally actuated valve comprises a valve section having an inlet 290, controlled by a ball valve 272, and an outlet 292. The ball valve 272 is loaded by a spring 278 into contact with a snap-acting blade 224, secured to a mounting bracket 225 and loaded by a spring 250. A temperature-responsive section 202 comprises a tube 210 of relatively high coefficient of expansion which is secured at one end to a boss 208, welded to the valve section. The opposite end of the tube is closed and receives a rod 218 of relatively low coefficient of expansion, such as quartz, which abuts a rod 220 whereby expansion and contraction of the tube 210 actuates the blade 224 to position the ball valve 272. A screw 258 adjusts the mounting of the blade 224.
