Abstract

985,590. Valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Sept. 28, 1962], No. 36887/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division H2] A gas valve and one or more electric switches are arranged in combination as a single unit, and are acted upon by a common thermostatically-operated lever. A switch and thermostat housing 1 and a valve housing 2 are joined together. In the housing 1, a bellows capsule 3 is joined by a tube 4 to a thermostatic sensing unit, and movement of the capsule 3, acting against spring 7, with its adjusting set-screw 8 causes movement of lever 6, pivoted at 10. In the housing 2 is a gas inlet 13 and an outlet 14 whilst a piston valve 15 movable against a spring 18 by the lever 6 through an adjusting screw 11 controls the inlet. The push rod 19 passes through a guide 20 and a sealing diaphragm 21. Another trimming screw 12 acts on an electric switch 22. In a further embodiment, several switches may be included, the associated trimming screws being adjusted if required to operate one before the other and a further spring acting on the arm to reduce movement due to a given temperature change.
