Abstract
883,537. Automatic temperature-control systems. MAXITROL CO. Aug. 17, 1959 [Aug. 21, 1958; July 22, 1959], No. 28011/59. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXIX] A gas-regulating valve 13 for a furnace 16 heating a room 15 has the loading at 24 on a valve operating diaphragm 25 exposed to outlet pressure at 27 varied by an armature 29 energized by coil 28, the current in which is reponsive to room temperature detected by thermistor 59 acting through an amplifier having transistors 38, 43. On reopening of valve 13, a short, initial full gas flow may be permitted by resistance 69 reducing the current in coil 28, resistance 69 then being by-passed by thermostatic switch 71 heated by resistance 72. A thyratron replaces the transistors in another embodiment. Bi-metal switch 21 in the room closes a gas cut-off valve 19 should the temperature rise unduly.
