Abstract

1,064,002. Automatic temperature control systems; fluid pressure servomotor systems. ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO. Feb. 23, 1965 [Feb. 25, 1964], No.7827/65. Headings G3P and G3R. An automatic temperature control system for heating or cooling comprises a thermistor 88, Fig. 2, sensitive to space temperature, a second thermistor 138 responsive to outside temperature and third thermistor responsive to fluid temperature 126 connected into a bridge circuit, the voltage T3, T4 across which is applied to a galvanometer coil 18 of an electro-pneumatic force balance unit. Calibration may be performed by a linked switch 150 and a rheostat 122 to provide a null balance across T3, T4. Resistors 90, 128, 140 linearize the thermistor characteristics and a rectifier reversing switch 72, 78 gives forward or reverse actuation. A night set back time switch 116 is also provided. The force balance unit comprises a leak port 48, 50, Fig. 3, controlled by a lever 20 operated by the galvanometer 18 causing variations of pressure in a chamber PS which unbalances the force on diaphragms D1, D2 and a floating spindle 26 causing one end of a poppet valve 34 to be displaced relative to one of the valve seats 30, 32 admitting or releasing air from a valve 58, 60 controlling the plant.
