Abstract
1,152,381. Valves. DOLE VALVE CO. 24 May, 1966, No. 23061/66. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a body 10 having a chamber formed therein by the internal wall of a longitudinally movable cage 22, having inlet ports 41 and outlet ports 43 at opposite ends thereof, a valve member 45 slidable along the internal wall, and having portions 46 and 47 to control flow through the ports, a temperature responsive actuating device 64 positioned within the chamber to shift the valve member adjacent one or the other of the ports 41, 43 via an overtravel spring 59, as a function of the temperature in a fluid inlet port 14, a spring 74 biasing the valve member to the left, as viewed in the figure, and a power device 50 moved as a function of the temperature around a remote bulb 17, for moving the valve member to cover and uncover the port it is adjacent. The cage 22 is adjustable longitudinally to alter the range of operation of the power device 50 by a rotatable knob 28 acting through a screw-threaded casing 24. A further power unit 70, smaller than the actuating device 64, is positioned within the casing 24 and forms an abutment for the spring 74, and compensates for over-extension of the device 64.
