Abstract

551,495. Gun carriages. SAGEB SOC. ANON. DE GESTION ET D'EXPLOITATION DE BREVETS. July 9, 1941, No. 8676. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1939. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] Relates to mechanized transport vehicles for trench mortars of the Stokes' type having a barrel 1, baseplate 4, and front supporting legs 5 with laying mechanism 6, 7. According to the invention, each leg of the mountting is detachably connected to a link 39 hinged to an arm 41 on the wheel axle 12 so that, after releasing a lock for the arm, and also detaching the barrel and baseplate from gripping means on the vehicle, the mortar can be moved from the transport position Fig. 5 to the firing position Fig. 1. The vehicle has attached to the axle a draw-bar 26 accommodating the gun muzzle in a shutter 25 and a cradle 10 of X formation with clamps 14 for the gun breech, and spring clamps 21 for the base-plate. In the firing position, the draw bar 26 and cradle 10 are turned down to rest on the ground. The legs 5 can be completely detached from the vehicle by releasing clamps 38. the muzzle-shutters 25 is provided with a spring- pressed rubber seal 32, Fig. 9, and rubber linings are provided for the clamps 14, 38.
