Breech actions, drop-down barrel.-Consists in pivoting the barrels of under-and-over guns substantially midway between the barrels in a strap mounted in grooves in the side cheeks of the breech body. In the construction shown, the barrels C are hinged by pivots e in a U-shaped strap d, Fig. 3, mounted to slide vertically in grooves in side cheeks g of the breech body and adapted to be held in the lowered position by a clamp l. The barrels are locked by a sliding top bolt o operated by a lever q. The rear ends of the barrels are almost completely enclosed by the side cheeks of the body.
