Abstract
167,466. Schneider et Cie. Aug. 5, 1920, [Convention date]. Field carriages; recoil apparatus.-Relates to anchoring devices for carriages having twin benttrails A, B, Fig. 2, such as are described in Specification 167,450, in which the front portions B of the trail beams are longitudinally journaled in the carriage D so that by rotation they can be spread open for firing or brought together for transport. The present invention consists in providing anchoring-spades for both the open and closed positions of the beams. In the open position, Fig. 2, spades sliding in slots L' are employed. whilst. in the closed position shown in Fig. 4 and in chain lines in Fig. 2, the end A<2> of one beam interlocks with and rests upon the end A' of the other, which has a fixed spade M to engage the ground. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, a spade having two blades M, M' can be adjusted on journals 0 and locked in either of the positions shown by an eccentric bolt P to pro-- vide an anchoring-spade and a supporting-plate for both the open and closed positions of the trail beams. Fig. 9 shows a pivotally adjustable sheath R through which can slide a blade L inserted at either end of the sheath.
