Abstract
386,556. Ordnance field-carriages. SCHNEIDER ET CIE, 42, Rue d'Anjou, Paris. July 1, 1932, No. 18685. Convention date, Sept. 7, 1931. [Class 92 (i).] Field carriages with divided trails are adapted for allround anti-aircraft fire from a fixed position by adjustably connecting the forward ends of the trail beams d with the fixed gun pedestal b so that the beams can occupy a raised position for travelling and firing on wheels, or a lowered position in which they do not interfere with all-round training or recoil during high-angle firing. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to a carriage having a wheel axle which can rock on a longitudinal pivot c<2> in a bracket c<3> detachably mounted on the pedestal b. Each trail beam d can be spread on a pivot e carried by a bracket f which can turn about a pin b<2> on the pedestal to the full line position shown in Fig. 3. In this position, a forward leg h can be coupled to the beams by a projection h<1> and to the pedestal by bolts i. Each beam can turn within its spade portion g on a pivot g<1> in line with the axis of the pin b<2>. The forward ends of the trail beams may be made adjustable in arcuate guides on the pedestal or may be separately attached to the pedestal in the raised or lowered position. Where the beams are connected together for movement about a longitudinal pivot k, Fig. 11, they may be lowered together by turning them through 180 on this pivot, or by lowering the pivot itself in rectilinear or helical guides on the pedestal.
