Abstract

132,889. Overbeke, M. van. Sept. 27, 1918. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to rotary-bolt guns of the straight-pull type in which the bolt-operating slide has a helical slot engaging the bolt lever, and is connected by two rods to a hand-grip beneath the stock adapted to bo reciprocated by the left hand of the marksman, and consists in adapting the helical slot to be opened at one end for engaging with the bolt lever, and in adapting the rods to slide in grooved plates fixed to the sides of the stock. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the bolt-handle c, preferably carrying a loose collar d<1>, is guided in a helical cam-slot b in a plate a attached to a pair of rods f which are slidable in grooved steel plates f<1> arranged one on each side of the stock. These rods are cross-connected by a member adapted to slide in a slot i in the stock. The mechanism is controlled by a U-shaped plate j connected to the reds f and adapted to be reciprocated by the left hand of the marksman. A steel guide k on the stock is provided with a longitudinal guideway for the tail of the bolt.
