Abstract
219,223. Herbst, R. Nov. 7, 1923. Side-car attachments.-A collapsable and detachable luggage carrier to be secured at the side of the rear wheel of a bicycle, comprises a frame or platform pivoted to a bracket c and formed of sections a, b hinged together at s, the outer end being supported on a wheel d<1> mounted in a laterally-swinging fork d. When the carrier is collapsed, the wheel folds parallel with the section b, and the sections a, b fold into an up right position against the rear fork, where they are retained by a hook f, bolt, spring catch, &c. The bracket c has its rear end fixed to a horizontal fork g embracing the rear of the wheel and its front end joined to the chain stay by a T- shaped tube k. The section a may be pivoted to the bracket c by means of two pins engaging sockets, from which the pins are disengaged by bending out the resilient limbs of the section a.
