Abstract

476,593. Folding trailer vehicles; wheels arrangement. SILVERSTEIN, S. June 12, 1936, No. 16451. [Classes 108 (i) and 108 (ii)] A trailer comprises a removable platform and a foldable chassis mounted on a swivel or castor wheel, the chassis comprising members which may be opened out into positions in which they lock the platform to the chassis. The underframe comprises two channel members 13, 14 having secured thereto, towards their rear ends, brackets 15 which are pivoted together by means of the shank 16 of the single castor wheel 3. The rear extensions 13<1>, 14<1> of the members 13, 14 are arranged as shown while the front parts of these members are provided with adjustable brackets 8 adapted to be secured to the bumper 4 of the towing vehicle by means of clamps 5, 6 and pins 7. A carrying platform comprising two hinged portions 26, 27 is provided, the portion 26 being furnished with members 43 having off-set portions forming slots into which the upper flanges of the members 13, 14 take when they are opened out. The underframe is held in operative position by a pivoted loop 38 engaged by a hook 42, and by being secured to the towing vehicle sides 29 and ends 30 are provided removably attached to the platform 26, 27.
