Luggage racks and holders.-A luggage grille A, Fig. 1, associated with the body of a motor-car or the like and normally positioned adjacent to the cover of a receptacle e, for example, for spare wheels, tools, &c, is mounted so that it can be moved to a limited extent in a direction at rightangles to the receptacle cover without disturbing the luggage thereon, in order to give access to the receptacle. In the construction shown, the grille is provided at its forward end with curved arms b carrying studs b<1>, Fig. 6, which project through curved guide-slots c in vertical plates C, and is also connected by pivoted links d to the chassis frame f, the two points of connection at each side of the motor-car allowing the grille a rearward movement with the grille remaining substantially horizontal. The links d form with arms d<1> a supporting-member D, the arms d' supporting the joint of the folding grille as shown in Fig. 1, when the grille is in its normal position. When the grille is moved rearwardly, the arms d<1> become inoperative, and access is permitted to the door E of the spare wheel receptacle, and to a lid e<2> for the rear part of the receptacle e which serves to accommodate tools, spare parts, &c. The stubs b<1> are provided with wing-nuts b<2> having a tapering surface engaging the tapering surface of a gallery c<3> located at the forward end of the slots c, whereby the grille may be locked in its normal position.
