Abstract

1,271,780. Collapsible trailers; collapsible frames. DRAKE TRAILERS PTY. Ltd. 2 March, 1971, No. 5852/71. Headings B7B and B7D. A collapsible trailer has a longitudinal spine 11 connected to wheeled side members 14 by parallel-motion link members 19, 20. The link member 20 may be locked in adjusted position by plungers 29 engaging one of a series of holes 27. A telescopic bumper bar 30 has an inner member 31 slidable in a member 32 and locked in adjusted position by plungers 34 engaging one of a series of holes 35. The trailer is collapsed into the Fig. 3 position by braking wheels 15 and driving the prime mover rearwardly to move the spine 11 rearwards, thus moving the side members towards one another. The rear part of each side member 14 is hinged at 17, so that on release of a locking pin 18 the rear parts may be swung up forwards and down to further shorten the trailer.
