Abstract

1486894 Tipping trailers COLLINS-NUNN Ltd 24 Jan 1975 [24 Oct 1973] 49475/73 Heading B7B A trailer comprises a wheeled carriage 1 and a load-carrier 5 slidable thereon to cause tilting of the carriage about its wheels. To cause tipping, pins 12 locking the carriage 1 to load carrier 5 are retracted and stop member 10 released so that a tractor, hitched to the trailer via connecting means 6, can be reversed for carrier 5 to run on rollers 3, 4 of the carriage 1 until tipping occurs. Alternatively the tractor may be driven forwardly so that rollers 8 on the end of carrier 5 are pulled over surfaces of the carriage 1 until the forward of the carriage tilts downwardly about wheels 2. Stop members 9 on carrier 5 come into abutment with corresponding stop members (not shown) at the forward end of the carriage 1. If the trailer is to be used with tractors without a vertically movable towing hook assembly the connecting member 6 can be in the form of a "break-neck". Alternatively, the member 6 can be disconnected and a jack 7 actuated to lower the forward end of carrier 5. The wheels 2 are locked during the sliding operation by a lock lever or by hydraulic means, incorporated in the wheel hub.
