Abstract

The semi-trailer comprises a superstructure, a chassis with wheels at the rear end, and a coupling member engaging with the turntable of a tractor unit, while there are extensible supports at the forward end of the superstructure. The chassis (6) is detachable from the superstructure (2), which has extensible supports (3) in addition to those on the chassis. The latter can be coupled to the superstructure by a turntable-type coupling of the same type as that used between semi-trailer and tractor unit, also having a drawbar (10) for attachment to a towing hook on the tractor unit. Thus the superstructure can be left on its supports and the chassis towed clear for use with another load.
