Abstract

608,620. Vehicle trailers. HEYNES, C. A. Oct. 22, 1945, No. 27751. [Class 108 (i)] A luggage-carrying trailer for a motor vehicle comprises a grid 11, Fig. 4, of lazy tongs form, supported by longitudinals 12 formed in two parts hinged at 13 to permit dismantling and folding up. The grid is stiffened by bolts 14 and provided with a coupling bar 17 engaging with eyes 31, Fig. 1, formed in bent clamps which are carried by the vehicle bumper 33. A single castoring road wheel 21 at the rear is carried by a cross-bar 20 to which the bearing 23 is hinged at 24 to permit the wheel to be swung close to the platform for stowing. Uprights 25 are pivoted to the longitudinals 12 and detachably connected to side rails 27 formed in two parts connected by a sleeve 28. The sides and ends which are optional are provided with collapsible grids such as 30. The trailer is capable of being dismantled and folded up for stowing in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.
