[Class 103 (ii)] In a combined vehicle bumper and luggage rack, the bumper is formed as a hollow body which comprises a fixed part secured to the chassis of the vehicle and a central movable part connected to the said fixed part by extensible means composed of elements which can be either extended by moving the movable part from the fixed part of the bumper to constitute a luggage rack, or collapsed and entirely housed in the hollow body forming the bumper structure. The fixed part 1 partially encloses two telescopic members 3 which support the central movable part 2. Additional members 4a are pivoted at 5 to the member 1 and are slidably engaged by members 4b so that when they are collapsed they may be pivoted at 5 and housed within the hollow member 1 before the member 2 is retracted. Additional cross bracing 14 pivoted to the member 2 and slidably engaged in a member 15 detachably secured at each end to a member 4a may also be housed within the retracted bumper body. The telescopic members 3 may be replaced by collapsable pivoted arms connected by a crossmember similar to the member 15. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subject-matter of Specification 636,311. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
